Hakuba47 WINTER SPORTS PARK

Yesterday's snow was very wet and heavy.
The wind was strong, as well. As a result the upper part of the mountain became pure white - like this rime. Those twigs really form a mysterious shape.
In places with lots of twigs it looks like a spider.
Today, was a bit foggy and not the best day for skiing/snowboarding, but seeing this beautiful landscape was definitely one of the positives aspects of this weather :)

This is a lesson from our Ski Academy. They're using the poles which are next to the half pipe.
There's another camp held by the Ski Academy starting today.
The Ski Academy is holding different camps which specialize on practicing certain techniques etc (only in Japanese).

And what is this group of people doing over there?
You'll see when you get closer...

...they are waiting on top of the beginner snow park on R-6.
The big terrain park on R-4 is closed today and tomorrow for another remake.
The park on R-6 is the park for beginners, because the slope is rather plain and you can try small jumps in this park.

Although the weather forecast said it will be raining today, it was snowing all day.
Because the temperature was a bit higher than before, the snow wasn't that powdery anymore.
We had about 20~30cm of new snow during the day. I hope everyone was having a good time!

The rail at the snow park almost disappeared.
The timing is really perfect as we're planning to close the park the next 2 days for another remake.
If it stays the way it was today, you couldn't use it anyways ;)
We are sorry for any inconveniences during those 2 days.

Skiing in today's weather conditions is very exhausting, so you really need some physical strength.
The recommendation for a day like this is the "Steak Plate" at Carol.
The steak itself is 200g, but you also get a soup, salad and potato fries!
Eating this for lunch you should have enough strength even in the afternoon!
If you're only a light eater, you might not be able to finish the whole plate.

Today everyone who took the Quad-lift was greeted in a refreshing way by this young lady. What is she doing on her day off?

Maybe she's there on her next day off, as well. I don't know...

Somehow I get the feeling that this season every weekend the weather is pretty bad.
But today, it already started with nice weather in the morning!
When I headed out to take these photos around 9am there were a few clouds, but it didn't ruin the nice view of the North Alps.

The view of Mt. Goryu and the three mountain tops (including Mt. Shirouma) is something you only get here.　

And the snow?
It's still in good condition!
Powder, powder, powder!
The snow, the weather and the landscape - everyone who came in today was very lucky to have the best conditions!
　

This weekend was also Kids Ski Free Weekend.
Every kid who is still in elementary school is getting the ski ticket for free on those days. It's the third weekend every month. And on Sunday we also do a treasure hunt.

Those two in the picture just won lift tickets for 2.
They found a good price and their smile shows how happy they are.

The weather conditions on the mogul course weren't that good for yesterday's competition. Today it was the turn of the athletes from Saitama. They had better conditions and it was easy to take nice pictures of the competition.
With a better visibility it was easier to ski down.
It was really lively in front of the Gondola top station with all the families and friends cheering for the athletes.

At "Carol" there was an order for the 47 Burger.
This group came from Tokyo. They're friends since university.
They were pretty surprised when their order arrived. It's really big!
This menu is definitely a menu for a group :)
The 47-Burger needs to be pre-ordered, but you should definitely try it!
