You will enter the peaceful snow-covered forests of Hakuba, with only the sound of the snow crunching underfoot. Our guides will point out nature’s winter surprises along the way. Hakuba 47 attracts many skiers and boarders that wish to access some of the unmarked tree skiing on the mountain. Unfortunately, skiing off-piste is a much more treacherous activity than most people realize. We started the “Double Black Diamond” (DBD) program to provide a modicum of safety education for our guests, and also to do our small part to help promote respect for the mountains among the general public. DBD candidates participate in a safety lecture before being accepted as a member. DBD membership includes the exclusive privilege to access a limited number of specified off-piste sections from Hakuba 47.
It is ¥1,000 as the annual membership fee.
Schedule: Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between January to March.
Sign up: at the Activity Center
Hours: 9:00AM to 9:20AM
Please inquire the person who hopes for the lecture by schedule other than the above mentioned.
Depending on the weather condition, the lecture might be canceled without any notice.
On the day: after you sing up at the activity center, ride gondola and come to the restaurant “Dee&Dam” to have a “lecture” from our ski patrol. The lecture starts 9:30AM on the table then go outside with patrol staff to begin on-snow training. After you go through the entire lecture and on-snow training, our patrol staff will provide a DBD membership card.
The day after you obtain the membership card, you will check in at the activity center every time to receive and wear the yellow armband to go into the specified DBD area. After you enjoy the day, please return the armband and receive your membership card.
Please note that DBD specified area is closed depending on the weather and/ or snow condition.
